Fallingwater/Flight 93 Memorial
Enjoy a festive morning in Mill Run, PA! Mill Run is located in southwestern Pennsylvania, fifty miles southeast of Pittsburgh and is the home of Fallingwater, designed by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater is listed as one of only 24 UNESCO World Heritage sites in the U.S. and is listed along UNESCO attractions including the Pyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China and the Taj Mahal. Completed in 1939, the building is most famously known for its positioning partly over an active waterfall in Bear Run, PA. The structure was originally designed for Edgar Kaufmann Sr., founder of the Kaufmann’s Department store. The building was shortly after restored because of arising structural problems, and now serves as a museum, dedicated in 1964. It blends seamlessly with the landscape and waterfall, fully expressing Wright’s concept of “organic architecture.” Fallingwater seemingly suspends in mid-air above the shimmering cascade, creating the dramatically elegant home. Tour Fallingwater and experience the profound architectural genius' work of Frank Lloyd Wright yourself! Fallingwater is a treasure of American architecture and should be on everyone's "To Do" list. The story of Flight 93 is a story of hope, courage, and unity. When confronted with the urgency of their situation, the passengers and crew of Flight 93 chose to act heroically and made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. A day of this fun and reflection while still enjoying the personal service and years of travel experience you come to expect with All About Destinations!
Day 1 (Breakfast, Lunch)

AAD Breakfast 'n GO!
Morning motorcoach departure from Elkins, WV (6:30am) (additional pick-up locations are possible) to begin a wonderful one-day tour that offer a glimpse at one of America's architectural wonders... Fallingwater. As we depart, enjoy a tasty breakfast sandwich and water/juice courtesy of our partners Great Harvest Bakery Company. After its completion, Time magazine called Fallingwater Wright's "most beautiful job" and it is listed among Smithsonian's "Life List of 28 Places to See Before You Die". The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. In 1991, members of the American Institute of Architects named Fallingwater the "best all-time work of American architecture" and in 2007, it was ranked 29th on the list of America's Favorite Architecture according to the AIA. Following our guided tour, the we will eat a wonderful gourmet boxed lunched prepared by the Fallingwater Cafe'. After lunch, there will be additional time to explore the grounds of Fallingwater and to visit the gift shop.

Following lunch at Fallingwater, we trek 40 miles to the west to Stonycreek Township and visit the Flight 93 Memorial. On September 11, 2001, four commercial airliners were hijacked in a planned attack against the United States. Two airliners were flown into the World Trade Center Twin Towers and a third aircraft into the Pentagon. A fourth aircraft, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into an open field in the Laurel Highlands near the small town of Shanksville, after the passengers and crew stormed the cockpit to derail the plane from its intended target, Washington, D.C.

Established by President George W. Bush in September 2002, the Flight 93 National Memorial is a serene place of remembrance and honor. At Flight 93 National Memorial, you can walk beside the 40 passengers and crew of Flight 93's final resting place and honor their courage. Whether your visit serves as a pilgrimage, a patriotic rite of passage or a historical and educational experience, one thing is for certain, the Flight 93 National Memorial is incredibly thought-provoking and emotionally powerful.

Your return trip aboard the motorcoach takes in the beautiful scenery along the way, while you reminisce on the wonderful day exploring one of America's architectural gems! Estimated time of return is 6:30pm.

**Special Note: There are a total of 100 stairs in Fallingwater. Please take this in to account when booking. There is also an unusual amount of walking at the Flight 93 Memorial.
